Before I was married I didn’t have any credit, I purchased everything with cash. After getting married that all changed. Todays economy runs on good credit; mortgage loans, student loans, credit cards and so on. But did you know that God places a high value on credit?

In 1 Peter 2:4 we see that Jesus is the living stone, rejected by men, chosen by God, and precious. The word precious here means God has given Jesus great honor. The word honor means a person or thing that brings credit. In John 17 Jesus prays to the father that He would give His glory to Christian believers, or great honor to them. So God has given Jesus great honor as he walked the lowly path eventually leading to His death on the cross. This was the epitome of His glory/honor! Jesus give us glory/honor when we follow Him, lowly, taking up our cross daily. This is the epitome of our glory/honor. Jesus brought with Him credit (creditability). Believers bring with them credit (creditability) through following Jesus.

So what is the value of visibility, the importance of us as Christians being visible in the world? We know we are supposed to be the salt and light of the world, but do we understand it? How does that happen authentically? Our visibility is a result of our creditability, and our creditability is a result of our value! Is there anything more valuable than a purchase made with the precious blood of Jesus Christ? Absolutely not!

Isaiah 13:12 says, “I will make man more rare than fine gold, a man more than the golden wedge of Ophir.” Ophir was a country where they made enormous amounts of gold. If we live out this credit, which carries unlimited value, there is no way we will not be visible for all to see! Matthew 28 says “go ye therefore”, the key is “as you go”, it’s not so much where you go or where you are, but “as you go”! As you go to the store, school, work, golf course, as a mother, as a father, you do so to make Jesus visible!
