Growing up in a negative atmosphere can be very impacting. Whether it is in your family, neighborhood, school, or all of the above, negative input can be devastating and long lasting. We all have the potential to powerfully impact others either positively or negatively through our words.
I love what Ephesians 4:15 has to say about this: “Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of His body, the church.” We are always speaking, the question is WHAT are we speaking?
When you think of crazy love, what do you think of? Unconditional love? If so, what comes to mind when thinking of unconditional love? Giving something? Forgiving something? Overlooking something?
1 Corinthians 13:6 says, “Love does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth.” Another translation puts it this way, “Love doesn’t tally wrongs or celebrate injustice, but truth, yes truth is loves delight!” Love delights in and celebrates truth! Truth is subordinate to love, love supports truth! Speaking love, crazy love, unconditional love, Jesus love, based on truth, God’s word, which is truth and the only reality God recognizes, impacts lives!
The primary way we reveal our love for God is by loving others. The clearest way that we manifest our love for others is through our words! What do we reflect to others about themselves? And how much does that reflection influence their lives? We have so much we can invest in to other people. We can use our imagination rather than our memory with our spouse, our children, our co-workers, or employees. We can refuse to label them, we can see them in new, fresh ways each time we’re with them. We can help them become independent, fulfilled people, capable of deeply satisfying, enriching relationships with others.
Treat a man as he is and he will remain as he is. Treat a man as he can and should be and he will become as he can and should be! One person can make a difference and everyone should try!
